Supermicro IPMI Access Tutorial

This tutorial requires you to connect to the VPN network first. For more information, visit the VPN tutorial.

This tutorial consists of 3 parts:

Tested Environment
OS version: Windows 7
Browser Version: 

  • Internet Explorer 10.0
  • Google Chrome Version 26.0
  • Firefox 20.0

Java Version: Java Version 7 Update 21

Logging into the SUPERMICRO IPMI interface

  1. After you have successfully logged into the VPN, open any browser and go to the IP Address (For example, 192.168.1.2) assigned for your server's management portal.
  2. Enter your username and password to login.
  3. To launch the KVM (Console), you may either:
    a.Click on the red box to launch the Java iKVM.

    b. Select Console Redirection, and then Launch Console.

Power Control

  1.  To perform Power Control of your server, you may:
    a. 
    Do it in the red box.

    b. Go to Power Control.

Mount CD-ROM image for OS self-installation

  1. In Virtual Media > CD-ROM Image, in the Share host field type 192.168.11.1.
  2. For Path to image, refer to the table below for more information.
  3. Enter iso in both the User field and the Password field.
